Leilani Wright
After completing a Masters of Counselling at Monash University, Leilani entered the education system as a secondary school counsellor. She provided therapeutic care to students and their families within the school environment, from individual counselling to running group work such as social skills training and parenting programs. From 2021, Leilani began working in private practice after completing a Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced. This extended her practice in therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioural therapy and art/ play therapy.
Leilani has had a broad range of experience working with various client groups from children, adults, refugee groups and forensic psychology.
However, Leilani’s area of interest is working with adolescents and young adults addressing mental health presentations such as anxiety, depression, emotion regulation issues, relationship problems and ADHD/ASD. Leilani values a care team approach, and will often connect with parents, school staff or other clinical supports involved in a young person’s life. Leilani is passionate about supporting young people and their families to aid mental and physical wellbeing, and creating opportunities for clients to flourish.
Leilani has current availability at The Cottage Medical Centre, on Tuesdays and Fridays during business hours. Additionally, she also offers a cognitive assessment service (for children aged 6 years to 16 years).Currently, expression of interest is being taken for enrollments for an upcoming parenting program addressing School Refusal. Outside of work, Leilani enjoys swimming, watching reality tv or true crime documentaries and spending time with her friends and family.
