It should include a variety of nutritious foods for intake of all nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Using these three simple tips makes a healthy diet a fun lifestyle!

Eating three meals a day

Yes! Most people skip meals due to their busy schedules and end up with bad eating habits. Simply put, “food is fuel for our bodies.” Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and eating a protein-filled meal as a kick start provides energy that’s needed to run through the day. At lunch, the body is ready for fill up with a balanced diet and in the evening light meals like a bowl of vegetables. This is because metabolism is low at night compared to during the day when more energy is required.

Eating in moderation

Meaning eating only as much as your body needs. At the end of a meal, the feeling should be that of satisfaction not stuffed. To sustain a healthy body, we need a balance of protein, fats such as omega3, and carbohydrates also importantly minerals, vitamins, and fiber. This does not mean eliminating the food we love, but consider balancing out with other healthy options, for example, eating bacon for breakfast once a week.

Balanced diet

It’s important to take note of how your plate is divided, vegetables fill half the plate, other half divided into equal quarters, one filled with lean protein and the other with whole grain or starchy vegetables. Another habit that can help as a way to curb hunger in a healthy way and keep one from overeating at mealtimes is consuming healthy snacks.  However ensure that the snack is low in carbohydrate and higher in protein, also ensure that you stop when full.
